I never thought that we would be having our first child in a foreign country where I don’t understand the language and their medical practices are different. In many ways, Korea has been AWESOME about prenatal care. I have had way more ultrasounds and opportunities to hear Baby Im’s heartbeat than I ever would have in Canada. We also received our 3D ultrasound as a general practice instead of having to pay more for it. The staff remember our names and those odd times that we have gone in because of potential complications, we have seen the doctor in less than 20 minutes. Haah…I know that would have NEVER happened in Canada.
However, the one thing I wish I could have received here in Korea were birthing classes in English. I have only found one person who provides them, but at $100 per class (5 classes in total) and a limited availability time, we couldn’t do them. I was sort of starting to panic since this is our first child and I don’t want to do anything wrong. Then, the idea popped into my head: Why don’t I look on youtube? Lo and behold, I actually found birthing classes in English posted on youtube! Man…what did people do before internet?!
So, for those who potentially may be having a child in a foreign land, youtube may be useful!
i’m in LOVE with youtube!!! my car battery died the other day…. so i watched a video on how to uninstall and reinstall a new one… did it all by myself, and saved a ton of money!! so handy!! Can’t wait to see baby Im!!!
WOW!!! smart thinking!!! hey, u must not have pregnancy brain… hahahhahah….
that is absolutely amazing how you found that on youtube…. and also quite hilarious… hahahahahhahahaaha……
You don’t have to worry too much… cause at the hospital, the nurses will pretty much tell you what to do to help you as well….

Good thinking Christina! Glad it helped too … the birthing process can certainly be a scary thing the first time – I can’t imagine what it would be like to go through in a foreign country! Sounds like they are taking good care of you though. Will keep checking for the updates, can’t wait to hear about Baby Im’s arrival!
